Rare baby penguin given plush toy to stop him being lonely

A little penguin named Henry is getting some extra comfort while waiting for his brothers and sisters to hatch. The rare Fairy penguin chick, born at a sealife park in Dorset, England, has been given a stuffed animal to keep him company. This is the latest in a heartwarming trend of baby animals being comforted with plush toys.

A baby penguin hatched at Sea Life Adventure Park Weymouth and needed a little help from the keepers to come into the world.

Henry needed a little help hatching, but thankfully our animal care team was there to assist him as he emerged from his shell, according to a recent Instagram post from the park.

Since the chick is being raised by humans, keepers gave him a stuffed penguin to keep him company while the other eggs finish hatching.

Young Henry is being raised by keepers, and a soft penguin toy is helping him feel secure in the hatchery. They’re hoping more penguin chicks will hatch soon and join him.

Little Penguins, sometimes called Fairy Penguins, are the smallest penguins on Earth. They normally live in Australia and New Zealand, so the colony in Weymouth is special – it’s the only one in Europe! That’s why the arrival of a new penguin like Henry is such a rare and exciting event for the area.

It’s so cute! Right now, this little fluffy friend is keeping him company while everyone waits to see if any more chicks will hatch soon.

A baby macaque monkey in Japan, named Punch, recently captured hearts after his mother rejected him. Caretakers are comforting him with plush toys donated by IKEA, and people around the world are following his story and recovery.
