Queer Comedy Series ‘Unconventional’ From ‘Eastsiders’ Creator and Star Kit Williamson Sets Premiere on LGBTQ Streaming Network Revry (EXCLUSIVE)

As a seasoned cinema enthusiast with a keen eye for authentic representation, I am genuinely thrilled about the upcoming premiere of “Unconventional” on Revry. Having witnessed a significant decline in LGBTQ representation since the conclusion of “Eastsiders,” it’s refreshing to see a series that embraces the intricacies and complexities of queer love without apology.

Kit Williamson‘s freshly developed half-hour comedic series titled “Unconventional” has been procured by the streaming platform dedicated to LGBTQ content, Revry.

In the role of Noah Guillory, Williamson – six-time Emmy nominee famed for his work on “Eastsiders” – is cast in the production titled “Unconventional.” This character is a millennial in a 10-year marriage who grapples with the prospect of parenthood and the progression of his PhD studies, all while serving as a sperm donor to his sister Margot’s spouse, Eliza.

The nine-part series, with each part representing a month during Eliza’s pregnancy, is set to debut on the streaming platform Revry starting from February 11th.

Williamson stated on Thursday that ‘Unconventional’ is particularly relevant now as stories focusing on marginalized communities need to be told, and this show is boldly queer in its approach. Unfortunately, representation of the LGBTQ community has decreased since ‘Eastsiders’ ended, and mainstream portrayals often avoid the intricate realities of queer relationships. Revry is the ideal platform for this series, and I am thrilled about the acquisition.

James Bland, who portrays Noah’s husband Dan, was not only an actor but also a significant creative force behind the scenes. He contributed as a writer, director, and producer. The main cast also includes Aubrey Shea from CMT’s “Nashville” and Briana Venskus from ABC’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Revry, being a platform for unconventional programming, thrives on narratives that authentically portray the intricacies of contemporary LGBTQ+ experiences,” stated Damian Pelliccione, co-founder and CEO. “Authentic queer storytelling lies at our core, and we’re proud to pioneer this movement, amplifying queer voices for broader audiences.

As a passionate cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that the captivating series “Unconventional” was born at the Sundance Lab and filmed on-site in the breathtaking locales of Palm Springs and Joshua Tree. Alongside Williamson and Bland, a talented creative team consisting of executive producers Miranda Bailey, Christopher Miller, Edward Ruttenberg, Madison McKinley, Jason Beck, Erwin More, and Larissa James, as well as writers Brea Grant, Trey Anthony, and Chad Callaghan, brought this project to life. Notably, Brea Grant and Miranda Bailey also directed episodes of the series. “Unconventional” was a joint production between Cold Iron Pictures and The Money Pool.
