Something Classic Games is releasing a major update for its pixel-art RPG, Quartet, today on PC. The update, called “Gluhender’s Grotto,” will be available on Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store.

This new update includes a 90-minute dungeon, better luck mechanics, and an optional CRT filter for a retro look. It also fixes visual issues for players on Steam Deck and Linux. If you’re curious about the game, you can read our review of Quartet here, or visit the official website here.

More details about the update with new screenshots can be found below, via Something Classic Games.

Something Classic is releasing version 1.3 of Quartet on February 3rd! This update adds a new 90-minute dungeon adventure called Gluhender’s Grotto. The adventure begins when the heroes receive a mysterious letter revealing the location of a hidden fortress where Chancellor Uralt’s loyalists are planning to regroup after the war. Players will descend into an ancient underground complex filled with magic and strange visions, and must figure out what’s happening and recover their senses to solve the mystery.

Gluhender’s Grotto is designed for players level 40 or higher. While this update features difficult and unique boss battles, it primarily emphasizes the stories and connections between characters. Here’s what else is new:

We’ve added a new optional CRT filter to the game, giving it a classic look. You can customize the filter with several settings to get the perfect visual effect.

Luck now does more than just increase critical hit chance! It also makes debuffs trigger more often, helps skills like Zap Zap and Javelin Rain hit more times, and gives the Magic Deck a better chance of exploiting enemy weaknesses.

Selected patch notes (full notes available on Steam):

  • A certain location in Seren will now become accessible (again) after completing Gluhender’s Grotto.

  • Various performance and memory improvements, particularly when using the airship.

  • Fixes for miscellaneous typos and map collisions.

  • Fixed an issue with certain visual effects on Steam Deck / Linux.
