QTCinderella thinks Twitch’s new feature allowing 1000 gifted subscriptions is a problem, following criticism from streamers about the platform.
Twitch viewers have several options for supporting their favorite streamers. They can sign up for Twitch Turbo, subscribe directly to a channel, or even gift subscriptions to other viewers.
For a long time, fans could purchase up to 100 gifted subscriptions. This limit was temporarily increased to 200, and then even to 1000 at the end of November. While the 1000 subscription option cost $5000 but offered a $1000 discount, several popular streamers voiced their concerns about it.
Asmongold said he would ban anyone who sent him 1000 subscriptions unless they could prove they earned over a million dollars in the past year. Ludwig criticized this, saying it was a way to get more money from fans.
QTCinderella & Valkyrae weigh in on Twitch’s 1000 gift subs
QTCinderella and Valkyrae have both expressed their concerns, and the creators of The Streamer Awards feel this is a negative development.
QT, speaking on the Wine About It podcast, suggested that wine brands should leverage platforms like Twitch to increase sales. They proposed creating a Twitch account for brands like 19 Crimes, allowing them to gift large numbers of subscriptions to viewers as a way to promote their wine and encourage spending.
Valkyrae suggested that you should have to “apply” to have the feature on your account.
QT explained that the responsibility for gifts shouldn’t fall on viewers, stating they don’t want someone spending a large amount of money like $5000 – the cost of 1000 subscriptions – on them. They believe it shouldn’t be so easy to spend that much money on another person with just a click of a button.

Emiru and FaZe Lacy were the first to try out the new feature, but it was later taken down.
It’s currently unclear whether Twitch will reinstate the higher gifted sub limit, or if the change back to 200 gifted subs is permanent. We’ll have to wait and see what they decide.
