PUBG: Blindspot Is Heading To Early Access Next Month

Almost a year after first testing PUBG: Blindspot – a new game based on PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds – Krafton has announced it will be available in early access starting February 5th.

This new game takes a different approach than the last, concentrating on strategic 5v5 team battles. Attackers must infiltrate a building, breach a vault, and plant a device called the Decrypter. They can use weapons like grenade launchers and explosive hammers to create new pathways. Defenders can fortify the building with barricades, but ultimately, success depends on skillful shooting.

The latest trailer highlights several upgrades coming to the game’s early access version, like better graphics and a more user-friendly interface. The developers have also made improvements to gameplay balance and controls. Krafton believes these changes bring the game to a quality level suitable for a full launch, even as they continue to develop and refine it.

According to production director Seungmyeong Yang, letting players try the game early will give them a chance to help shape its development. The team plans to work closely with the community through an open, free-to-play model to finish PUBG: Blindspot together.

Currently, PUBG: Blindspot is launching on PC only. It’s free to play, and Krafton intends to regularly update the game each month, taking player suggestions from the official Discord server into account.

Krafton, the company behind PUBG, has expressed wanting to evolve the game into a broader platform similar to Fortnite. They’ve also faced criticism for their focus on becoming a company that prioritizes artificial intelligence. Interestingly, PUBG’s creator, Brendan Greene (also known as PlayerUnknown), has said he’s encouraged by the negative reaction many gamers have had to the increasing use of AI in games.

Brendan Greene remains connected with Krafton while also developing new games, such as his open-world survival game, Prologue: Go Wayback, which became available in early access last year.
