PlayStation 5 owners can now download an update that adds a power-saving feature for games. The update is about 1.3 GB in size. In addition, the DualSense controller has received a firmware update that lets you easily switch between the devices it’s connected to. These changes were first announced in July.
Assign DualSense to four devices
Once the update is installed, your DualSense controller will be able to remember up to four devices – like your PC, phone, tablet, or PlayStation console. You’ll be able to quickly connect to a registered device by pressing a specific button combination. Here’s how to add a device to the controller’s memory:
- Make sure the light bar and player indicator on your controller is off. If they are active, hold down the PS button until they turn off;
- Press and hold one of the action buttons (triangle, circle, cross, or square) and the PS button for over 5 seconds. The light bar and player indicator flash two times.
- Turn on Bluetooth on your device, and select the option to add Bluetooth devices.
- Select your controller from the detected devices. The light bar lights up, and the player indicator’s lights blink according to the slot number.

To connect the controller to a previously paired device, first make sure the device – like a smartphone with Bluetooth turned on – is powered on. Then, on the controller, press and hold the designated action button and the PlayStation button simultaneously for about 3 seconds.
Power Saving in PS5 games
A recent PS5 update of about 1.3 GB adds a new energy-saving mode. This feature slightly reduces the console’s performance in certain games, and some believe this is to help developers prepare those games for a future handheld device with less power. Currently, the Power Saver mode works with three games: *Demon’s Souls*, *Death Stranding 2: On the Beach*, and *Ghost of Yotei*.
To enable the new feature, you need to go through the following options:
- Settings;
- System;
- Power Saving;
- Power Saver for Games.
If you select the final choice, make sure to enable it. Then, for games that have a power-saving feature, that feature will turn on automatically while you’re playing.
