PS5 beats Nintendo Switch 2 sales for first time

It was a big moment for Sony, and honestly, a bit of a surprise after Nintendo had been on top for so long, especially heading into the busy holiday season.

According to Circana analyst Mat Piscatella, the PlayStation 5 was the best-selling game console in November, both in terms of units sold and revenue. This is the first time a PlayStation console has achieved this since the release of the Nintendo Switch 2, which came in second place for both metrics.

Although the PlayStation 5 is currently the best-selling console, the Nintendo Switch 2 is close behind in terms of sales and revenue. This means the leading console could change by December or early next year.

Several things likely contributed to the change. Sony offered strong Black Friday discounts on the PS5, which encouraged people to buy it. Holiday shopping also probably played a part, with many people buying gifts early. The release of popular games like Call of Duty Black Ops 7 likely boosted interest, as big game launches usually do.
