Fans of the Prototypegame think a remastered version might be coming soon. They’ve noticed some recent online updates to the game that have led them to believe this. Several updates were recently spotted, sparking excitement among the community. It appears a remaster could be in development.
Based on information from SteamDB and recent data discovered by the community on the Prototype subreddit, the game’s credits have been updated. The updates now include both Iron Galaxy and Ubisoft Connect. These new credits show hundreds of changes, with specific mentions of teams working on “downloadable content” and a “Ubisoft Connect Version” of the game.
Just to recap, Microsoft transferred the cloud-gaming rights for Activision to Ubisoft following its purchase of Activision Blizzard. A Redditor named StanleyMitchel noted, “For Prototype 1, they have added some test maps and quite a few new names in the credits. There might be some hope for a remaster after all,”
Prototype first came out in 2009, and the game put you in the shoes of Alex Mercer, a man who lost his memory and is also a powerful bioweapon. He’s trying to figure out what happened to him. However, there’s a problem: New York City is under strict quarantine because of an outbreak of the Blacklight virus. This leaves Mercer stuck in the middle of a conflict between the people infected with the virus and a top-secret US army unit determined to stop it, no matter the cost.
A follow-up game, Prototype 2, came out in 2012, introducing a new main character: James Heller, a former US soldier. The series hasn’t had a new release since being made available on PS4 and Xbox One in 2015.
