Project Zomboid Build 42 in unstable version introduces important change to crafting

Project Zomboid received another update as part of the beta tests for Build 42.

In mid-December 2024, a significant upgrade for the well-known undead survival game was unveiled as a “preliminary version.” Although it wasn’t complete, the update players will receive in its final form. Since then, developers at The Indie Stone studio have released two updates, enhancing the beta version of the game with additional features.

In the latest update 42.3.0, I’m thrilled about the new feature that lets me deconstruct existing items to learn their crafting recipes! This isn’t a final version yet, but it’s a promising start. Instead of relying solely on luck to find those elusive recipes, I can now actively pursue them by disassembling items I already have in my inventory.

Additionally, players appreciated not just the fresh van varieties, like mobile libraries for acquiring skill books, but also minor yet significant enhancements to the targeting system and balance. For instance, certain recipes are now readily accessible for specific classes right away. Furthermore, there have been fixes concerning the technical aspects of the game, such as addressing a glitch that stopped rain collectors from being installed.

You can find the complete list of solutions in the blog post written by The Indie Stone team, which was published on Steam, or in their official forum discussion.
