I was so shocked to hear about the cancellation of the Prince of Persia remake! Apparently, one of the actresses who was supposed to be in it found out the same way I did – through social media! Her brother actually saw all the reaction online and told her the game was canceled. Can you believe it? It’s just wild that she didn’t even get an official notification.
Ubisoft recently canceled six games as part of a large company restructuring. Among them was a planned remake of the popular 2003 platformer, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which was already a fresh start for the Prince of Persia series.
Understandably, fans were upset when they learned the project was canceled, especially since it had initially been planned for release in 2021.
The news was upsetting for the game’s creators too, and one of the actresses discovered it only after it had been publicly announced.
Prince of Persia remake actress discusses “devastating” cancellation
Actress Eman Ayaz, who was involved in the now-canceled remake of The Sands of Time, shared on YouTube how upset she is about the project being scrapped, describing it as the biggest disappointment of her career.
She didn’t say exactly what she was working on, but based on when and how she was talking, it seemed like she was discussing the Prince of Persia game.
I still remember when I landed this incredible role three years ago – it really felt like a dream come true! Getting it wasn’t easy, though. The audition process was intense – I had to send in a self-tape, then do an in-person callback, and finally, I even had to fly to another city for a chemistry read with the other actors. When I finally got the news I’d been cast, I burst into tears – I was just so overwhelmed with happiness!
I’ve been following this team’s work for three years now, and honestly, they feel like family to me. I’ve seen the project go through so many changes and improvements, and I was so excited to finally be able to talk about it when it launched. So, I was completely heartbroken to find out online this week that it’s been canceled.
Ayaz says Ubisoft didn’t tell her directly that the project was cancelled. She found out when her brother messaged her on WhatsApp, asking if she’d heard the news. When she said she hadn’t, he sent her a link to a news article confirming it had been cancelled.
I was completely stunned,” she said. “Just two months ago, I was filming promotional material for the project, and everything seemed to be going great. I hadn’t heard anything since then. We were all excited about its release this year, so it was a real shock to find out it was cancelled so unexpectedly.
Despite maintaining a positive attitude in the video, Eman Ayaz shared that she’s no longer allowed to include her work on the Prince of Persia remake in her professional portfolio when applying for new jobs.
