The statement reads: “Over the past few days, these wildfires have swept through communities, causing immense suffering to families, destroying homes, schools, healthcare facilities, and much more. Thousands of people from all backgrounds have been affected by this emergency.
A variety of organizations and businesses are lending their help to the disaster response, including José Andrés’ World Central Kitchen that is supplying meals for both emergency workers and fire victims; Animal Wellness Foundation and Compton Cowboys, who are taking care of animals displaced by the fires; Baby2baby, which is distributing essential supplies and emergency kits to affected families; and Airbnb, collaborating with 211LA to provide free temporary lodging.
In case your friend, family member, or pet needs to leave due to an emergency and you can provide them a safe place at your home, please do so. Also, take some time to check on your elderly or disabled neighbors to see if they require assistance with evacuation.
They went on saying, “Sadly, some families and individuals find themselves having lost everything. We kindly ask you to think about contributing items such as clothing, toys for children, and necessary essentials. The American Red Cross is actively providing aid to those in distress.
As a movie enthusiast residing in Southern California, I’ve been deeply saddened to witness the devastation caused by wildfires. Since Tuesday morning, over 15,000 acres have gone up in flames in Pacific Palisades and Malibu. The Eaton Fire has added to the destruction in East L.A., burning through more than 10,000 acres. Another fire, known as the Hurst Fire, has consumed over 700 acres atop the San Fernando Valley. These fires have been relentless, leaving hundreds of buildings in ruins and forcing mass evacuations. The fires are still raging across the greater Los Angeles area, causing immense distress.
