Prime Video Reveals ‘The Chosen’ Season 6 Premiere Date and Theatrical Plans

The popular series The Chosen, which tells the story of Jesus of Nazareth (played by Jonathan Roumie), will return for its sixth season on Prime Video on November 15, 2026, according to Variety. The first three episodes will be available to stream immediately, followed by weekly releases until January 6th. The season will conclude with a special theatrical release in the spring.

All previous seasons of The Chosen have included eight episodes. While season six will have fewer episodes, the final episode will be longer than usual to compensate.

Season five of The Chosen concluded with Judas Iscariot betraying Jesus, and season six will depict the day of his crucifixion. According to an official summary, “The hour has come. Before sunset, Jesus of Nazareth will be dead.” The new season will focus on Jesus’ final day, showing it through the eyes of both his followers and those who opposed him. While some see the events as justice or a means to peace, his followers view it as murder. Despite facing isolation and death, Jesus remains steadfast in his purpose—the cross. Season six of The Chosen will explore how those final hours forever changed the world.

The television series The Chosen is planned to have seven seasons, and the first episode of Season 7 will be released in movie theaters in 2028. Since Season 6 is expected to depict Jesus’ death, the final season will likely focus on his resurrection, continuing the show’s portrayal of stories from the New Testament.

The series The Chosen has taken a unique path to audiences. It began with fan funding and premiered on VidAngel, a streaming service focused on faith-based content, in 2019. Over time, it expanded to wider platforms like Prime Video and Peacock by 2021. More recently, season three aired on traditional television through The CW, and season four had a special release in movie theaters, proving very popular with audiences. The theatrical releases, starting with season three and continuing through season five, have collectively earned over $140 million in 55 countries around the world.

Beginning with season 5, The Chosen has established a consistent partnership with Amazon MGM Studios. Season 5 episodes were initially available only on Prime Video for 90 days, and season 6 will also stream there. Prime Video will also be the home for several The Chosen spin-offs, including the animated series The Chosen Adventures, which premiered last October, and a new reality show, The Chosen In The Wild With Bear Grylls.

The next season of the show isn’t coming for several months. Along with Jonathan Roumie and Dimitri Dimyan, the cast includes Shahar Isaac as Peter, Paras Patel as Matthew, Elizabeth Tabish as Mary Magdalene, Noah James as Andrew, George H. Xanthis as John, Abe Bueno-Jallad as Big James, Vanessa Benavente as Mother Mary, Richard Fancy as Caiaphas, Paul Ben-Victor as King Herod, and Andrew James Allen as Pontius Pilate.
