This week, Running With Scissors showed off Postal: Bullet Paradise, a new game inspired by Vampire Survivors and developed by Goonswarm Games. But after fans reacted negatively to reports that the game would use AI-generated content, Running With Scissors decided to cancel the project altogether.
Following the announcement of Postal: Bullet Paradise, a game Running With Scissors intended to publish but not create, we received a lot of negative feedback from our fans,” said company founder Vince Desi. “They strongly believe parts of the game were made using AI, which they fear has seriously harmed our brand and reputation.”
So, it looks like Running With Scissors has completely lost faith in Goonswarm Games, and that’s why the project’s been cancelled. After that, Goonswarm Games told PC GamesN they didn’t use any AI in the game itself, or in that trailer we all saw. It’s a bit of a messy situation, honestly.
The game and its reveal trailer were made entirely by our artists, not AI. Everything you see was created using traditional art tools, and we’ve even shared the original files – like layered PSDs and works in progress – to prove it. Some people are mistaking normal imperfections in those files as evidence of AI, but those are just part of the natural artistic process.
This year in June, Running With Scissors revealed a remastered version of Postal 2 called Postal 2 Redux. Flat2VR Studios, Team Beef, and Running With Scissors are working on the game for current generation consoles and PCs, but a release date hasn’t been announced yet.
