Polymarket launches NYC supermarket where groceries cost nothing

Polymarket is planning to launch New York City’s first free grocery store and will also donate $1 million to the Food Bank For NYC.

On February 3rd, the prediction market platform announced that it’s opening a brick-and-mortar store called “The Polymarket.” Unlike typical stores, visitors will be able to take groceries without needing to buy anything.

The company explained that the new store is one part of a larger plan to help people in the city who struggle to afford food. They also highlighted the work of the Food Bank For NYC as the store prepares to open.

Polymarket also announced they’re donating $1 million to Food Bank For New York City to help combat hunger throughout the five boroughs, as part of their commitment to giving back to the community.

Another message announced that Polymarket is now open and available to everyone in New York City. It’s a physical location where you can invest in the community, and no purchase is necessary to visit. The grand opening will be held on February 12th at noon Eastern Time.

Polymarket wrapped up the project with a final message: “Free groceries, a free market – all for the people who keep New York City running. Join us for the grand opening of The Polymarket next week! We appreciate you, New York City.”

Okay, so Polymarket hasn’t given us many details yet. They’ve signed a lease for a physical store, which is awesome, but they’re keeping the exact location and how long it’ll be open a secret for now. I’m hoping they announce it soon – I’m really curious where it’ll be!
