Police were able to find the owner of a frightening clown robot thanks to a Facebook post asking the public for help identifying it. The post quickly went viral.
A puppet with big black eyes, bright red hair, and a cracked face full of pointy teeth was turned in to the police station as lost and found.
In a Facebook post, the police playfully asked anyone who owned the item – or recognized it from a bad dream – to get in touch to claim it.
Seriously though, if anyone recognizes who this puppet belongs to, please get in touch with the station.
Creepy puppet identified as Halloween animatronic
After the post became popular online, people in the comments figured out the puppet was Bobby Strings, a Halloween decoration sold at stores like Spirit Halloween.
It’s unknown if the Spirit Halloween animatronic found in a police station is an official product or a creation made by a fan. Although the two versions look alike, the one discovered by police lacks the bright green eyes and has different feet compared to the animatronics sold in stores.
Mad About Horror describes their $400 animatronic, Bobby Strings, as a towering 7.7 feet tall. He moves eerily, like a puppet with limbs that can extend up to 8 inches and swing realistically. His eyes glow as he speaks six frightening phrases, using a combination of singing, twisted laughter, and unsettling demonic voices.
The department expressed gratitude to everyone who shared their post and helped get the message out.

Police haven’t said who owns the animatronic or how it became lost from its owner.
