Police footage shows multiple Marques Brownlee traffic violations amid speeding scandal

As a long-time follower and admirer of MKBHD, I must say I feel a mix of emotions upon seeing this latest series of events unfold. On one hand, I appreciate Marques Brownlee for his insightful tech reviews, and on the other, it’s hard not to be concerned about his seemingly recurring traffic violations.

Footage from police bodycams has emerged, depicting well-known tech influencer Marques Brownlee stopped on several occasions due to different traffic offenses.

Known by the moniker MKBHD, Brownlee is widely recognized for his presence on YouTube, predominantly critiquing technology such as smartphones, emerging artificial intelligence gadgets, electric vehicles, and other related tech.

In November 2024, he faced criticism when a video clip surfaced showing him driving at 96 mph in a 35 mph zone with signs indicating the presence of children. The clip was part of one of his videos but was quickly removed afterward.

Following an apology and explanation for taking down the video, Brownlee resumed his usual content, yet he’s encountering criticism once more due to newly released bodycam footage indicating that the November event wasn’t his initial traffic violation.

MKBHD served multiple traffic tickets in police bodycam footage

On December 15th, the YouTube channel ‘Transparency Bodycam’ published a collection of police bodycam footage featuring an individual named Brownlee being pulled over for traffic offenses on three distinct occasions: one on June 30, 2023, another on June 16, 2024, and a third on August 11, 2024.

On June 30th, Brownlee was stopped in his Tesla due to excessively dark window tint. At that moment, he didn’t have his driver’s license with him. After confirming his identity, the police officer issued him a ticket and allowed him to continue on his way.

On June 16, 2024, Brownlee’s vehicle was pulled over due to exceeding the speed limit by 34 miles (59 mph in a 25 mph zone). During this traffic stop, the officer on duty informed the YouTube personality that he had accumulated two penalty points on his driver’s license for prior speeding offenses.

Instead of issuing a ticket, she chose to give him leniency by only giving him a citation for having unreadable license plates, which could cost him as much as $55.

In the month of August 2024, Brownlee found himself in trouble once more with traffic violations, as he was pulled over by an officer at a fuel station in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, due to issues with his license plates.

A month ago, I found myself under the spotlight following allegations of speeding, an event that ignited further disagreement among commentators and fellow influencers alike. Now, fresh footage has surfaced.

Currently, as I’m typing this, Brownlee hasn’t issued any comments about the video that has accumulated more than 43,000 views since it was posted yesterday.
