Police arrest suspect after TikTok star Ko Tin Zaw Htwe found dead in Thailand

Ko Tin Zaw Htwe, a popular social media personality from Myanmar who went by the name ‘irrawaddyma,’ was found dead in a forest in Thailand. Police have arrested one person they believe is connected to his death.

According to Thai news source Thairath, the 25-year-old content creator was found in Mae Sot on January 20th. He had gained a large following on TikTok – over 947,000 – by sharing videos of his daily life, dances, and moments with his partner.

Police were called to a location outside Mae Sot on the afternoon of January 20th after a body was discovered. Officers arrived around 4 PM and found the body, identified as Htwe, in a grassy area under a tree in the forest, according to Thairath.

Police arrest suspect as investigation continues

According to Police Colonel Rang Dawadung, the superintendent of Mae Sot Police Station, one person has been arrested regarding the death of Htwe. The investigation is still ongoing to determine exactly what happened.

Htwe’s last known social media activity was a TikTok video posted on January 19th. In the video, he lip-synced to a trending song and showed off a new T-shirt.

Following reports of his death, fans left tributes in the comments across his social media pages.

“It hurts my heart how quickly a human life is taken away.” one user wrote.

“I’m sorry, may God bless you,” shared another.

A third added, “May you live a happy and beautiful life in the next life. RIP.”

TikTok creator Mackenzie Paul passed away on January 23rd at the age of 26 after battling leukemia.
