As a seasoned gamer with decades of Pokemon TCG experience under my belt, I must say, the announcement of the Mythical Island booster pack for Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket has me absolutely thrilled! Growing up, Mew was always the one that got away – the elusive mythical Pokemon who seemed to be just out of reach. Now, with this expansion, I finally have a chance to get my hands on this enigmatic creature and complete my collection.
On Tuesday, December 17th, it’s been revealed that The Pokemon Company will incorporate the “Mythical Island” booster pack into the “Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket”. This marks the first additional booster pack for the mobile version of the TCG and the second overall, following Genetic Apex which was available at launch.
In this latest expansion, the main attraction is Mew, the 151st legendary Pokemon that was mysteriously left out of the roster for the Kanto-centric Genetic Apex. Additionally, it will introduce more Pokemon from later generations and regions, including the Snivy-Servine-Serperior trio and Larvesta-Volcarona line, which hail from Generation V’s Unova region (Pokemon Black & White).
On the island of myth, they’ll introduce fresh Supporter cards featuring iconic trainers from Kanto, including Blue, your Gen I rival, and Leaf, the female counterpart of the protagonist who first appeared in Fire Red & Leaf Green. The lineup will be completed with additional cards for various existing Pokemon from Kanto, showcasing diverse attacks like those of Tauros and Magmar. Notably, Aerodactyl is set to receive an ‘ex’ version, which boasts greater power but comes at a higher cost when defeated.
