The addition of the Space-Time Smackdown expansion significantly altered the metagame in the Pokémon Trading Card Game’s Pocket format, causing some players to express frustration due to a dominating Darkness deck centered around the powerful Mythical card, Darkrai ex.
Whenever a new set gets introduced into DeNA’s trading card game, the metagame shifts because fresh Pokémon emerge as leading contenders, outperforming the former champions.
When the Mythical Island expansion debuted, an event occurred involving Celebi ex and Serperior, and a similar occurrence is taking place now with several Darkness-type Pokemon from the Space-Time Smackdown collection.
Players are tired of Darkrai ex
A member of the r/PokemonTCG_Pocket subreddit expressed displeasure towards a Darkness deck incorporating Darkrai ex, Magnezone, and Druddigon, using a humorous internet joke that says “I can’t handle this any longer.
I swear to God, if I see this deck ONE MORE TIME

The post was flooded with comments expressing agreement with the author. One commenter said, “It’s incredibly frustrating and persistent,” while another disgruntled user remarked, “It’s overly sweaty and toxic in nature; it’s amusing how people justify this deck as requiring a certain level of skill to play effectively…
The Darkrai ex / Magnezone deck has soared to the top, providing players with excellent matchups in various scenarios while also inflicting substantial passive damage throughout the game.
When Druddigon occupies the Active position, players can prolong the game while inflicting 20 points of damage each time Druddigon is struck, due to its Rough Skin trait. By attaching the Rocky Helmet item to it, the passive harm escalates to 40. Concurrently, Darkrai ex’s ability causes an additional 20 points of damage every time it receives energy.
Additionally, Magneton gains an additional Energy each turn through Volt Charge. This feature allows Magneton to charge itself on the bench, building up energy to unleash a powerful 110 damage once it evolves into Magnezone.
Users are growing weary not just of the widespread use of Darkrai ex, but also its presence in another highly dependable deck featuring Weavile ex. Additionally, they are finding Druddigon particularly frustrating.
Since the introduction of the Dragon with the Mythical Island set, players have been struggling against it. However, with the arrival of Darkrai ex, Magnezone, and other cards like Rocky Helmet, Pokemon Communication, and Giant Cape, this Dragon has turned into a real headache for many.
User 1: “Let’s initiate a request to make some changes to Drud, perhaps lowering his health or even removing him altogether.”
User 2: “I absolutely despise Druddigon! I think it should be taken out of the game completely.
The truth is, this deck isn’t invincible, but opponents are finding it tough to discover an effective strategy against it. They often suffer consequences, whether by attacking or holding back.
Unfortunately, at this moment, they’ll need to persist with attempting various combinations or be patient until fresh cards are introduced into the game, altering the meta yet again.
