A hint about the next Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) Pocket collection has been leaked, revealing its planned launch in January 2025. This potential release date seems strategically chosen to dodge another significant Nintendo-related announcement.
In more straightforward terms: The latest Pokemon Pocket collection released was called Mythical Island, and it debuted on December 16, 2024. Since then, there have only been Promos with alternate art versions of existing cards, along with decorative items for customizing user profiles, but no new content has been added to the core set.
Fans eagerly await the arrival of the new Pokemon Pocket collection in January, but The Pokemon Company hasn’t specified an exact date yet. However, based on leaker PokeGirLauren’s recent Twitter/X post, it appears that the set may be released on January 29, as they accurately predicted the release date of Mythical Island in the past.
Set A1a of the Pokémon TCG Pocket Series will be available on December 16th.
The 2nd set, labeled ‘A2’, is scheduled for release on January 29th, with approximately 230 cards included. It’s anticipated to significantly alter the game meta.Plans are underway to introduce 4 main sets and 4 mini sets each year.

Pokemon TCG Pocket’s next set could launch at the end of January
Given recent leaks, it seems plausible that the new Pokémon Pocket collection will be released on January 29th.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve been buzzing with excitement lately! Word on the street is that we might just get a sneak peek at the Nintendo Switch 2, possibly around January 16th (or close to it). Now, this teaser is primarily focused on the hardware, but let’s face it, as soon as we catch a glimpse, our minds will start racing with speculations about the games that could potentially grace its screen. Can’t wait to see what surprises are in store for us!
The unveiling of the Nintendo Switch 2 will temporarily overshadow gaming news, particularly in the Pokémon community, as the forthcoming title Legends: Z-A seems to suggest it’s a multi-generation game.
As a devoted fan, it seems evident that the Pokémon Company’s next Pocket Expansion was likely planned well ahead of time, given Nintendo’s one-third ownership stake in the company. It strategically makes sense to hold off on releasing this expansion until the initial excitement surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2 has subsided a bit. This way, the focus can shift back to the enchanting world of Pokémon and its captivating adventures.
The forthcoming Pokémon Trading Card Game set is anticipated to significantly alter the current gameplay dynamics, potentially referred to as “reshaping the meta.” This could be achieved through various means, including incorporating mechanics from the TCG like Mega Evolutions or Dynamax/Gigantamax cards.
Currently, the Pokemon Pocket game’s current meta is stable, which means fans might still engage in debates about decks featuring Gyarados, Celebi, Pikachu, and Mewtwo for a while longer, as fresh cards are yet to be released.
