Pokemon TCG Pocket has major roadblock for Pack Point hoarders

The limited Pack Points system in the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) Pocket often goes overlooked by players because reaching the limit takes such a long time. But once you reach it, it significantly restricts your game account.

In the world of Pokémon, Pack Points function as a currency. They allow you to unlock cards directly, bypassing the process of drawing them from packs. You can also use them for Wonder Picks, which offer an element of luck. Additionally, you can acquire cards in the shop using Tickets and Pack Points. The rarity of a card influences its cost in Pack Points, so players often save these points to obtain hard-to-find cards and complete their collections.

It appears that the Pokemon Pocket game doesn’t allow an unlimited amount of Pack Points accumulation. Interestingly, a user on the PTCGO Reddit found out that if someone reaches the Pack Point maximum, they won’t be able to open any additional packs.

Pokemon Pocket won’t let you hoard Pack Points forever

The maximum Pack Point cap is set at 2500, indicating that free-to-play users may need a substantial amount of time to reach it. Nevertheless, some individuals have invested significant sums of money in Pokemon Pocket, making it more likely for them to max out their Pack Points, particularly if they’re saving for future updates or expansions.

Initially, there were reports suggesting Pack Points come with an expiration date. But, according to the official Pokémon Pocket site, this isn’t true; instead, the main condition is that Pack Points may not be exchanged freely across different sets.

Under this restriction, continuous play of Pokemon Pocket means that players will inevitably exhaust their Pack Points at some point. Should fortune favor them, they would have completed their collection by then and could use the points for any item they desire instead.

It’s great news that we have 2500 Pack Points at our disposal, and it seems like it will mainly be used by those who pay to play. However, if this amount proves to be a problem in the long run, it might be necessary for fans to express their dissatisfaction, which could potentially lead to an increase in the limit.
