As a long-time Pokemon enthusiast who grew up with Lillie and her adorable Clefairy, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming Journey Together set! Having been a part of this franchise since its inception, I’ve seen many changes over the years, but none quite as intriguing as Owner Pokemon cards.
In 2025, one of the largest Pokémon Trading Card Game collections has been given an English title and a scheduled release date. This upcoming set, called “Journey Together,” is unique because it features trainers along with their Pokémon on the cards.
In the Pokemon Trading Card Game, the majority of cards revolve around combat between Pokemon. However, many cards also showcase well-known human characters from the franchise, typically as potent Supporter cards, capable of influencing the outcome of a fight through their special abilities.
The collection titled “Journey Together” is going to incorporate cards from the Japanese Battle Partners series, introducing the concept of “Trainer-Pokémon Pair” cards. So far, here’s what we have gathered:
Release date
According to PokeBeach, the Pokemon Trading Card Game’s Journey Together collection is scheduled to debut on March 28, 2025. Pre-releases for this set will take place from March 15th through the 23rd. This implies that it will be released following the Prismatic Evolutions set, which drops in January.
Owner Pokemon and theme
The unique feature of Journey Together lies in Personalized Pokémon cards. Instead of calling a card “Grimmsnarl ex”, it is referred to as “Marnie’s Grimmsnarl ex.” This way, each card bears the name and likeness of its respective owner.
It’s worth noting that for a Pokémon to be owned by the Trainer Marnie, it must evolve from its own species. Therefore, Marnie’s Grimmsnarl cannot evolve from just any Morgrem card, but specifically one that belongs to Marnie.
The Owner Pokemon cards revealed in Journey Together so far are:
Lillie’s Clefairy ex
Lillie’s Clefairy ex possesses the ability to eliminate Dragon-types, owing to its Fairy Zone Ability making it vulnerable to Psychic attacks. Nevertheless, opponents will find more pressing concerns, as its Full Moon Rondo move inflicts 20 damage and an additional 20 for each Pokemon on the bench, which could amount to a formidable 100 extra points of damage!
Marnie’s Grimmsnarl ex
Marnie’s Grimmsnarl partner works perfectly in a deck centered on the lively coach, since its Punk Up skill allows you to distribute five Dark Energy cards onto your fundamental Marnie Pokemon, transforming it into a fantastic tool for your squad.
N’s Zoroark ex
N’s Zoroark’s previous Pokemon has the capability to cause issues, since its Trade ability allows you to discard one card to draw two. However, what really stands out is its Night Joker power, as it enables copying a benched N’s Pokemon’s attack. This creates a remarkable combination with the legendary mentioned afterward.
N’s Reshiram
In Pokemon Black & White, N’s Reshiram is an incredibly formidable Legendary creature, promising one of the most daunting competitive challenges within the Journey Together set. Its ability, Rampage Power, can inflict 20 points of damage times the number of damage markers on N’s Reshiram. This means it could unleash a staggering 240 points of damage with just two Energy cards!
The Virtuous Flame attack is a little trickier to pull off, as it will need a Fire/Thunder Energy combo, but 170 damage is a killer for those who can pull it off. The fact that N’s Reshiram isn’t an ex card also means it’s less risky to run it, as it doesn’t have the extra Prize Card penalty.
As a devoted fan, I’m excited to share that the initial trailer for Battle Partners & Journey Together hinted at the potential appearances of Ethan’s Pichu, Arven’s Mabosstiff, and Misty’s Psyduck. However, it’s important to note that these characters don’t have official cards in circulation yet.
Journey Together product list
Currently, there aren’t any officially available English language items for the Journey Together set. However, we anticipate that this will change shortly, and as soon as official announcements are made, we’ll be sure to update this post.
