Pokemon Legends Z-A trainer spots hidden Shiny Pokemon in Japanese trailer

A dedicated Pokémon fan believes they’ve found the first glimpse of a Shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Legends Z-A, but it appears only in the Japanese trailer for the game.

A new trailer for Pokémon LEGENDS Z-A was released in Japan on October 2nd. If you watch the trailer, you can spot a yellow Pidgey sitting on an orange canopy at the 1 minute and 9 second mark, during a battle with a Bunnelby.

So, I was playing and noticed this Pidgey hanging around on screen for a while. It slowly turned, and I spotted another Pidgey behind it, but this one was noticeably more faded in color. It wasn’t a huge difference, but the contrast got me thinking… a lot of other players are wondering if the brighter yellow one might actually be a Shiny! It’s definitely got people excited.

Shiny Pidgey spotted in Pokemon Legends Z-A

A user on X, named Northrixbr, shared a screenshot claiming to show a shiny Pidgey appearing in the new Pokémon Legends Z-A trailer. However, other players noticed the screenshot wasn’t from the English version of the trailer. While the battle with Bunnelby is still present, the background was changed, and the yellow Pidgey is missing.

So, someone asked me about where I got this screenshot from, and honestly, I messed up a bit! I’d watched both the Japanese and English trailers, but I didn’t even *notice* they had different content. My bad! It actually happens at the 1:09 mark in the Japanese trailer.

This discovery has caused a lot of discussion among Pokemon fans. The two versions of the trailer are almost exactly the same, except for this one small detail. Seeing the Shiny Pidgey was very quick – you could easily miss it! – and it might be the first time a Shiny Pokemon has been officially shown in Pokemon Legends Z-A.

Players had previously found Shiny Pokemon at a preview event in Paris, but this is the first time one has been shown in actual gameplay. It’s currently unclear if the special sparkle and sound effects from the game *Legends Arceus* will be included in the new Z-A game.
