If your Pokémon need to be healed, you can always rely on the helpful nurses at the Pokémon Center. In past Pokémon games, these characters all looked the same, but Pokémon Legends: Z-A is changing that by giving each nurse a unique appearance.
All the Pokemon Center nurses in Legends: Z-A have the same hairstyle – those recognizable looped curls that remind fans of Nurse Joy from the Pokémon anime. However, the attendants in Lumiose City are much more diverse, each with unique skin tones and facial features.
The characters you encounter feel more like individuals—one side quest even lets you battle a Pokémon Center employee named Bien, which means “good” or “well” in French. While it’s not a huge change in Legends: Z-A, it does add a bit more personality to the game and the series as a whole.
It looks like Pokémon Legends Z-A will finally show us more sides to the character Nurse Joy! #Pokemon #PokemonLegendsZA

Fans usually call the Pokemon Center staff ‘Nurse Joy,’ but this name isn’t often used in the main video games. It actually comes from the animated series, which explains why all Nurse Joys look so similar – they’re portrayed as being closely related family members.
Nurse Joy characters were specifically named in only a few core Pokémon games: Pokémon Yellow and its updated versions, Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee. This is because those games took a lot of inspiration from the Pokémon anime series.
Lumiose City has a lot to offer beyond its Pokémon Centers. If you’re interested in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, now available on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, TopMob has helpful guides. We gave the game a 7 out of 10 in our review, calling it a great conclusion to the Pokémon games on the original Switch.
