Pokemon Legends: Z-A – How to Catch Eternal Flower Floette

Many Pokémon fans wondered if they’d ever be able to catch AZ’s Floette, the one with the Eternal Flower. Hints of this possibility actually appeared way back in Pokémon X and Y, suggesting Game Freak planned to make it available. However, despite having the necessary files, they never officially released the Pokémon – until now. With Pokémon Legends: Z-A, players can finally catch Eternal Flower Floette, though it takes some effort. Be warned: the following details will contain spoilers for the story and postgame of Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

How to catch Eternal Flower Floette

Throughout the story, AZ leaves his Floette with your partner character, and it will remain with them even after the game ends. However, observant players may have noticed an empty space in the Mega Evolution Pokedex, hinting that you can eventually obtain Floette yourself. This is true, but it will require some extra effort and tasks in the game that aren’t immediately apparent.

The Infinite Z-A Royale

The biggest part of the endgame in Z-A is the Infinite Z-A Royale. This lets you keep battling in Reward Matches as long as you earn Challenger Tickets. Although opponents are randomly chosen eventually, your first 15 Reward Matches are different. Your 15th match will always be against your rival, who will use Floette as their strongest Pokémon, and is preceded by a cutscene. After the battle, another cutscene plays, giving you more insight into your rival’s character and concluding their storyline.

Because of what they’ve learned, they realize they can’t give Floette the training it needs. Following AZ’s request, they entrust Floette to your care. Floette joins your team at level 72, complete with its Mega Stone. Checking its details will show you its original trainer was AZ, identified by Trainer ID 000001.

This Floette is different from others – it’s much stronger even without Mega Evolving! It also knows a powerful Fairy-type attack called Light of Ruin, which does a lot of damage but causes some recoil. You’ll probably unlock this special Floette near the end of the Z-A content, but there’s still plenty to explore in Lumiose City, including learning more about its oldest resident and their past partner. Have fun with your new companion!
