Pokemon Legends Z-A: How to catch Eevee, and all Evolution methods

With each new Pokémon release, Eevee and its evolutions are always popular companions – and Pokémon Legends: Z-A is no exception. Players will be eager to find out where to catch Eevee and how to get the evolution stones needed to transform it. Good news: getting all of Eevee’s evolutions in this game is likely easier than ever before. The biggest challenge will be simply finding an Eevee to begin with, but even that won’t be too difficult. Let’s take a look at how to catch one!

Where to catch Eevee

Finding an Eevee in the game depends on when you start looking. You’re guaranteed to find them in Wild Zone 19, which unlocks later in the game. However, you can actually find Eevee much earlier as a rare spawn on rooftops. The challenge is they’re quick to run away if you don’t catch them fast, and even when weakened in battle, they’re still difficult to catch. Because of this, many players wait until they unlock Wild Zone 19. While it *is* possible to find one earlier, they appear randomly, so there’s no reliable way to find them. Keep an eye out on rooftops during the day – that’s where they seem to show up.

How to evolve Eevee

If you’re familiar with previous Pokémon games, you’ll quickly understand how Eevee evolves. Most evolutions require specific Evolution Stones, but Espeon, Umbreon, and Sylveon are different. These evolutions depend on your friendship level with Eevee – once you’ve maxed it out, Eevee will evolve. If Eevee knows a Fairy-type move, it will become Sylveon. Otherwise, it will evolve into Espeon during the day or Umbreon at night. Here’s a complete list of Eevee’s evolutions for reference:

  • Flareon – Evolve using a Fire Stone
  • Jolteon – Evolve using a Thunder Stone
  • Vaporeon – Evolve using a Water Stone
  • Espeon – Evolve via Friendship during the day, no Fairy-type moves known
  • Umbreon – Evolve via Friendship during the night, no Fairy-type moves known
  • Leafeon – Evolve using a Leaf Stone
  • Glaceon – Evolve using an Ice Stone
  • Sylveon – Evolve via Friendship while knowing a Fairy-type move

Where to Get Evolution Stones

Most of Eevee’s evolutions need Evolution Stones, so you’ll likely be looking for those. Luckily, they’re fairly easy to find all over Lumiose City. If you don’t have the stone you need right away, the Stone Emporium in southern Lumiose has every Evolution Stone available for a fair price. They also sell Mega Stones there, which are useful for evolving other Pokémon later on – though they don’t apply to Eevee!

How to gain Friendship Quickly

Friendships will develop naturally as you play, but spending time with your Eevee at a café seems to speed things up! Several characters in the game will even comment on this. Enjoy a drink with your Eevee, and it looks like they’ll really appreciate the bonding time!

Wild Eeveelutions?

Okay, so evolving Eevee is pretty straightforward, but you can actually *find* its evolutions out in the wild too, which is kinda cool. They pop up most often in Wild Zone 20 – you unlock that after you beat the main story. You might stumble across them in other areas too, if you get lucky. Honestly, you probably won’t *need* to catch them this way, since evolving is easier, but definitely keep an eye out! When they do appear, they’re usually Alpha Pokemon, meaning they have access to moves they normally wouldn’t learn, which is a huge bonus.

Seriously, Eevee and all its evolutions are just the cutest! Even if you’re not trying to catch ’em all for the Pokedex, it’s totally worth going out of your way to find them. Happy hunting, and I hope you have an awesome time exploring Lumiose City!
