Pokemon Go’s latest update accidentally blocks players from collecting items

The newest update for Pokémon Go, released starting October 15th, significantly changed how players level up. It raised the maximum trainer level from 50 to 80 and adjusted how much experience is needed to gain each level. As a bonus, players are receiving rewards for every level they achieve during this update.

When the update launched, trainers were given a large number of items all at once – things like Pokeballs, potions, and storage expansions earned by leveling up. This caused a lot of players to quickly fill up their item storage.

Players haven’t been able to spin Pokéstops or open gifts because their item storage is completely full. Many have received a huge influx of items – some over a thousand – in a recent update, and even increased storage space hasn’t been enough to handle it all. They have to manually delete items to make room.

Pokemon Go trainers locked out of PokeStops after update

A Pokemon Go player named Livie shared a screenshot showing they received all their previously earned rewards at once after the game’s recent update. This resulted in their item bag being overloaded – they now have 2,891 items when it’s only meant to hold 1,700.

Imagine opening Pokémon Go after an update and suddenly getting *all* your previously earned rewards at once! 🫠

Someone shared a funny complaint about the recent Pokémon Go update: “Thanks, Pokémon Go! I love the trainer level update, but now my storage is completely full. At this rate, I won’t be able to spin a PokéStop again until 2026!”

The screenshot shows the user’s bag contains 3,187 items, but it’s only meant to hold 2,350.

Ugh, Pokémon Go, seriously? I appreciate the trainer level update, but my storage is *completely* full now! It’s so bad, I’m not even going to be able to spin Pokéstops for, like, years. I’m predicting 2026 before I can actually play comfortably. 😭😭😭😭

Pokémon Go players experiencing this problem can fix it by deleting some items from their inventory, but many are hesitant to do so because the rewards are valuable.

The update simplified leveling by removing research tasks for levels 41 to 50 and adding new ones for levels 71 to 80.

You can now earn extra perks like more space for your Pokémon, gifts, and postcards, as well as new items to customize your avatar. Players level 15 and higher will also get a “Daily Adventure Egg” that can be hatched once a day for 10,000 XP.
