The Pokémon Company revealed that Pokémon Champions will be available on Nintendo Switch and the new Switch 2 starting April 8th. A mobile version of the game will be released later this summer.
The game itself is free to play, but a Starter Pack will also be available offering benefits like extra storage for your Pokémon and an additional battle theme song. Players on the Switch 2 will receive a free upgrade that improves the game’s graphics. The Pokémon Company has also shared details about how the game connects with Pokémon Home, along with a new trailer – you can find everything below.

Prepare for exciting Pokémon battles! Pokémon Champions launches on Nintendo Switch on April 8, 2026. On the same day, you’ll also be able to get a special bundle called Pokémon Champions + Starter Pack, which includes the game itself plus extra in-game perks like more storage for your Pokémon and a new battle theme. If you have a Nintendo Switch 2, a free update will be available to make the game look even better with enhanced graphics.
Pokémon Champions features Pokémon battles similar to past games, using established elements like Pokémon types, Abilities, and moves. This allows for the deep and diverse battle strategies players enjoy. Plus, a mobile version is coming soon, letting you battle on both Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
Pokémon Champions will connect with the Pokémon HOME system, letting players include Pokémon they’ve transferred from previous games in the Pokémon series, as well as from Pokémon GO, in their teams.
Okay, so I’m super hyped for Pokémon Champions! They’re bringing back Mega Meganium, Mega Emboar, and Mega Feraligatr – I first battled them in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. But here’s the really cool part: when they Mega Evolve in Champions, some of them will have completely new Abilities that we’ve never seen before! It’s going to change up the strategy a lot, I think.
Mega Meganium gains a new Ability called Mega Sol, which makes its moves work as if it were always bright and sunny. Mega Emboar has the Mold Breaker Ability, meaning its attacks ignore the opponent’s Ability. Finally, Mega Feraligatr gets the Dragonize Ability, which transforms any Normal-type move into a Dragon-type move, increasing its power by 20%.
Pokémon Champions is coming to Nintendo Switch on April 8th and offers fun for all players, whether you’re aiming for high ranks in competitive battles or just want to relax and enjoy casual gameplay.
