PoE 2 launches today in Early Access. Devs thank players and have concerns about servers

As a seasoned gamer who has weathered countless server storms and queues, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and trepidation as Path of Exile 2’s Early Access looms ever closer. With over a million players eagerly awaiting their chance to dive into the new expansion, it’s no surprise that the developers at Grinding Gear Games are feeling the heat.

As a thrilled supporter, I can’t help but share the excitement brewing among over a million gamers gearing up for the Early Access of Path of Exile 2. While we relish in anticipation, the developers at Grinding Gear Games express both joy and concern about this monumental step in their special video with Jonathan Rogers.

The team’s co-founder acknowledged that while it’s fantastic news that over a million people want to play the game, it also presents an issue. It seems the studio underestimated the number of players trying to connect simultaneously, and the developers had earlier warned about the possibility of queues when attempting to enter the game.

The programmer swiftly chose to acquire more cloud server space. Yet, Rogers remains apprehensive about whether the backend for the upcoming game “PoE 2” can handle the influx of many players eager to try out Early Access. This uncertainty arises due to the continuous rise in sales of packages granting Early Access participation.

The developer didn’t forget to express gratitude towards the players for their unanticipated victory and assured they would put in extra effort to tackle any server problems. Meanwhile, it seems that a “firestorm” has swept through the studio, if we go by one of the recent updates.

Today at 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time marks the beginning of the Early Access for Path of Exile 2. Preloading has already started on Steam, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 (84 GB). You can download the separate game client from the official website as well (around 86GB). Important details about Early Access are available in a dedicated section on the site.
