The story of Carol Sturka is far from over. Season 2 of Pluribus will continue to explore the fate of Earth, now under alien control, and the powerful new weapon that’s emerged. Here’s a complete overview of what we know about the upcoming season, including when it might be released and details about its production.
Vince Gilligan’s newest show quickly became Apple TV+’s biggest hit, attracting more viewers than shows like Severance and Ted Lasso. Despite its slower pace, the sci-fi series captivated audiences each week.
Now that the first episodes have finished, everyone’s wondering what happens next. We’ll have to wait a bit for details, but don’t worry – Season 2 is confirmed!
Alright, so I’ve been digging into Pluribus Season 2, and I’m sharing everything I’ve learned. Here’s a complete breakdown to get you up to speed!
Is there a release date for Pluribus Season 2?
There is currently no release date or even rough release window for Pluribus Season 2.
I was so relieved to hear that Season 2 is definitely happening! Apparently, Apple really loved the show and immediately ordered two seasons, even before they’d finished filming the first. That means we’re guaranteed another batch of episodes – it’s amazing!
It’s still unclear when Season 2 will be released. As of now, neither Apple nor the show’s creator, Bill Gilligan, has announced a production schedule. Gilligan told Entertainment Weekly they are “working on it,” but that the process takes time and he wishes it could be faster.
Considering how ambitious each episode is and the reported $15 million cost per episode, it’s likely Season 2 of Pluribus won’t be released until late 2027 or early 2028.
What will Pluribus Season 2 be about?
At the end of the first season, Carol and Zosia’s relationship became difficult. The aliens discovered a way to change Carol, using her frozen eggs to grow stem cells. They told her the process would be finished in about a month, and she wouldn’t be in control of herself anymore.

Back in Albuquerque, she confesses to Manousos that she feels she’s failed morally. Now, she’s ready to dedicate herself to saving the world, which will be the central theme of the next season.
It’s still uncertain how an Atom Bomb will ultimately be used to benefit the story, but writers have been hinting at its importance for some time, suggesting they have a plan for it down the line.
As Carol and Manousos investigate the aliens’ plans – whether by trying to communicate peacefully or facing potential atomic attacks – the Others will keep advancing their own agenda. Quietly, this enigmatic race is constructing a massive satellite dish intended to send a signal to a faraway world. While it’s doubtful they’ll finish the project in the next season, they’re sure to make significant progress.
When Gilligan originally created the show, he planned for it to last four seasons. He still believes in that original idea, but asks fans to remember things might change along the way.
He told Esquire that, as of November 2025, he thought around 40 episodes would be a good number.
Is there a trailer?
I’ve been checking for a trailer for Pluribus Season 2, but no luck so far! It sounds like they haven’t even started filming yet, so there’s absolutely nothing to see – not even a sneak peek or behind-the-scenes shot.
Since a filming schedule hasn’t been set yet, it’s hard to say when the first images from season two will be released. We’ll share updates as soon as we have them. Until then, you can enjoy the season one trailer again down below.
Will Season 2 be streaming?
Yes, Season 2 of Pluribus will be available exclusively on Apple TV… when it’s ready.
As we noted earlier, Pluribus was the most successful series ever on the platform, so Apple is highly likely to keep it exclusive for the foreseeable future. We can confidently expect the show will remain an Apple production until its conclusion.
