Ever feel down at a fun event, like karaoke or a wedding? Or like you just didn’t fit in at a party? The new show Pluribus, from the creator of Better Call Saul and starring Rhea Seehorn, centers around a woman who seems to drain the energy from everyone around her. Here’s everything you need to know about this Apple TV+ series, which is hoping to buck the trend of shows starting with the letter ‘S’ failing to gain traction.
What is the premise of Pluribus?
This show, like Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul before it, is filmed in Albuquerque, New Mexico – and the star clearly loves it! Entertainment Weekly reports that actress Rhea Seehorn plays Carol, a romance novelist with a unique mission: to rescue people from constant happiness. Before the series begins, a virus spread worldwide, leaving everyone content and peaceful. But the trailer suggests that the world isn’t thrilled with Carol remaining unaffected.

It seems like everyone hates a party pooper! The trailer for Pluribus shows a wide range of people – from everyday workers to the President – all trying to cheer up Carol. One guy even jokingly offers her a hand grenade to make her smile. But the trailer also raises a mystery: why is Carol’s neighborhood Sprouts grocery store empty? Does being happy mean you no longer need to eat? We’ll get the answers when Pluribus comes out in November.
Who else is going to Albuquerque?
Seehorn will be acting alongside Karolina Wydra, known from True Blood, and Carlos Manuel Vesga, a star of telenovelas. Miriam Shor, Samba Schutte, and Peter Bergman will also make guest appearances.
Any crossovers with the Breaking Bad universe?
Gilligan hinted that the new show includes subtle references to his previous work, like Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. He told EW that attentive viewers and listeners might spot a few Easter eggs – hidden details for dedicated fans – related to his past projects, potentially even referencing the show’s setting.
When does Pluribus come out?
Don’t miss the premiere of Pluribus on Apple TV (not Apple TV+) November 7th, with the first two episodes available to watch. New episodes will be released every Friday through December 26th, and the show has already been renewed for a second season.
