Pluribus Asks, Would a Better Call Saul Reunion Make You Happy?

Ever feel down at a fun event, like karaoke or a wedding? Or like you just don’t fit in at a party? The new show from Vince Gilligan, starring Rhea Seehorn (from Better Call Saul), centers around a woman who seems to drain the energy from everyone around her. Here’s what you need to know about Pluribus, the Apple TV+ series that might just break the ‘S’ curse – a history of Apple TV+ shows with names starting with ‘S’ being cancelled.

What is the premise of Pluribus?

This show, like Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul before it, is filmed in Albuquerque, New Mexico – and the star clearly loves it! According to Entertainment Weekly, actress Rhea Seehorn plays Carol, a romance author on a mission to prevent the world from becoming too happy. Before the series begins, a virus spread across the globe, making everyone content and calm. But the trailer suggests the world isn’t happy with Carol being the only unhappy person.

Honestly, it’s a little unsettling seeing everyone so desperate to cheer up this woman named Carol! The trailer for Pluribus shows people going to crazy lengths – even a guy offering her a hand grenade! – just to get her to smile. But it’s also really intriguing. Why is the Sprouts near her completely empty? It makes you wonder if happiness somehow means you don’t need to eat anymore. I’m definitely going to be finding out what’s going on when Pluribus comes out in November!

Who else is going to Albuquerque?

Seehorn will be acting alongside Karolina Wydra (known from True Blood) and Carlos Manuel Vesga, a star of telenovelas. Miriam Shor, Samba Schutte, and Peter Bergman will also appear as guest stars.

Any crossovers with the Breaking Bad universe?

Gilligan hinted that the new show includes subtle references to his previous work, like Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. He told EW that attentive viewers and listeners might spot a few “Easter eggs” or hidden details relating to those shows, and possibly references to the filming location as well.

When does Pluribus come out?

I’m really excited for Pluribus! The first two episodes are hitting Apple TV – the regular Apple TV, not Apple TV+ – on November 7th. Then, each Friday until December 26th, a new episode will be released. And the best part? They’ve already greenlit a second season, which is awesome!
