PlayStation Plus has announced the free games coming to its Essential tier in April 2026. After offering four games in March, the lineup for next month is now available, and it mostly matches what was previously leaked online, so there aren’t many unexpected titles.
PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers will receive a new lineup of games in April, as announced on the official PlayStation Blog:
- Lords of the Fallen
- Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream
- Tomb Raider I-III Remastered
Most PS Plus April Games Leaked Early
Thanks to an early leak, we already knew most of this month’s free PlayStation Plus games before the official announcement. A trusted source, Billbil_kun, revealed Lords of the Fallen would be the main game about a week ago, and then confirmed a few days later that Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream would also be available on PS Plus in April.
With a sequel arriving in August, now is a great time to play the original Lords of the Fallen. The first game has received generally positive reviews, and with excitement building for the new release, it’s a perfect opportunity to experience where it all began.
Reviews for Sword Art Online: Fracture Daydream are a bit mixed, but fans of the series might still enjoy it. It’s available for free with PlayStation Plus this month, so it could be worth checking out. Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered is also a great addition, especially for those who fondly remember the original PlayStation games.
PS Plus Is Having A Mixed 2026 So Far
So, 2026 as a PlayStation Plus player has been… interesting. We’ve definitely gotten a lot more free games each month, which is cool, but honestly, the quality has been really hit or miss. Some months are great, like last month when we got Monster Hunter Rise along with a few other titles. But other months, like the one before, it felt like Undisputed was the highlight and the rest were just… okay. It’s been a mixed bag, and a lot of us PS Plus members feel the same way.
April’s PlayStation Plus games are good, though not exceptional. However, the selection of games available with Extra and Premium subscriptions has been particularly appealing recently. The free Essential games for April will be released on April 7th and you’ll have until May 5th to add them to your collection.
