PlayStation Owners Will Be Able To Playtest Upcoming Halo Games, It Seems

The Halo Insider website recently announced that PlayStation players will now be able to participate in testing for upcoming Halo games. This follows the recent announcement that the Halo: Combat Evolved remake, and future Halo titles, are coming to PlayStation.

The Halo Waypoint website now lets players sign up for console playtests on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 5. You can now select which PlayStation consoles you’d like to test on when opting in.

The Halo Insider program lets Halo fans test upcoming updates for games like Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Halo Infinite. According to the team at Halo Studios, player feedback from these tests – called “flights” – directly led to significant improvements in The Master Chief Collection.

So, just to clear things up, the new Halo: Infinite campaign won’t have traditional competitive multiplayer right off the bat. But the good news is you can play the campaign with up to three friends online – it’s got four-player co-op! 343 Industries is saying they might let Halo Insiders test out the campaign co-op soon, and if they ever make another multiplayer Halo game – I’ve heard rumors of a live-service one – you can bet there’ll be test flights for that too.

The arrival of Master Chief on PlayStation is a huge surprise for gamers, marking a major shift in the long-standing rivalry between console brands. This move signals Microsoft’s commitment to releasing games on platforms beyond Xbox, and some, like GameStop, are even suggesting it means the end of the “console wars.”

The first Halo game developed using Unreal Engine 5, titled Halo: Campaign Evolved, is scheduled to release in 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5.
