Sony has patented a new system that could use AI to help players who are having trouble with a game. This “ghost assistance” feature would be able to either offer hints and guidance, or even take over and play the game for the user, and it could be turned on at any point during gameplay.
I was reading about a really cool new Sony patent, and it sounds like they’re working on an AI that could actually play parts of games for you! Apparently, if you’re stuck on a difficult section, the AI could step in and complete it. What’s even more interesting is how they plan to teach the AI – by having it learn from tons of gameplay footage uploaded by players and available online. It’s like the AI will learn by watching other people play, which is a pretty clever idea!

Sony has been adding features to make its video games easier to play. When the PS5 launched, it included a ‘Game Help’ system. This system provides quick tips and tricks through short videos and images that players can access during a game. Although not every game uses it, it’s a helpful tool when available.
Sony has improved accessibility in its games, but some, like God of War Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West, have faced criticism for offering too much help through characters constantly giving advice. Microsoft is also exploring similar ideas with its AI-powered Gaming Copilot, which aims to provide assistance and recommendations during gameplay.
