Wow, can you believe it’s been thirty years since the original PlayStation launched in the US and Europe? It seriously changed gaming forever! To celebrate, Sony is releasing a book called PlayStation: The First 30 Years, which is going to dive into the console’s history. It’s not out until 2026, but you can actually preorder it now for $125. I’m definitely grabbing a copy – I grew up with that console and need to have this!
PlayStation: The First 30 Years Deluxe Edition

The $325 Deluxe Edition of the book is a limited print run of just 1,994 copies. It includes special features such as exposed binding, a beautiful clamshell presentation box, and exclusive art prints. Currently, 50 copies have already been purchased through Read Only Memories, suggesting it will sell out quickly.
Currently, it appears this first edition will be available solely through Read Only Memories, though a broader distribution is possible via another publisher. This isn’t uncommon; Read Only Memory’s previous books – such as WipEout Futurism: The Graphic Archives, Like a Hurricane: An Unofficial Oral History of Street Fighter 2, 500 Years Later: An Oral History of Final Fantasy 7, and Videogame Atlas: Mapping Interactive Worlds – have been published globally by Thames & Hudson, sometimes with different cover designs.
You can enhance your experience by adding The God of War: 20th Anniversary Retrospective Set, a beautiful two-volume hardcover book collection that honors the entire series. Currently available for $81.54 (originally $100), this bundle includes stunning artwork, behind-the-scenes content, and exclusive interviews with the creators. The first book focuses on the original God of War trilogy and related games, and the second explores the making of God of War 2018 and God of War: Ragnarok. This is a great addition for any fan!
A Deluxe Edition is also available for $160, reduced from $200. It enhances the collection with a special two-piece slipcase cover, distinctive artwork, and a bifold portfolio that includes two lithographs.
If those books aren’t quite what you’re looking for, Sony has partnered with Reebok to create a special collection of shoes inspired by the original PlayStation. There will be three different sneaker models available: the InstaPump Fury 94 for fans in Japan, the Pump Omni Zone II for those in the US, and the Workout Plus for the United Kingdom. These shoes will be released in October.
