After being labeled the ‘villain’ on Season 2 of Squid Game: The Challenge, player number 183 – who is actually a millionaire in real life – is now addressing the backlash he’s received.
Okay, so as a huge Squid Game fan, I think Season 2 of The Challenge finally gave us a real villain! Player 183, whose name is Steven, totally stepped into that role – he was exactly who we needed to root against.
During the Netflix reality show, Player 183 was boastful and strategically played other contestants against each other, seemingly enjoying their misfortune.
Steven recently shared that he once won more than $6 million in a poker tournament, leading some people to suggest he didn’t deserve his latest $4.56 million prize. He’s now responding to that criticism.
Player 183 says he was just “having fun” on Squid Game: The Challenge

While watching the season finale of Squid Game: The Challenge 2, the crowd reacted with excitement when Steven stumbled right before the finish line, allowing Player 072 (Perla) to win the game.
During the Q&A after the screening, when asked about the audience’s reaction, Steven said he was fine with it and understood why they felt that way.
I’ve experienced incredible luck before, like winning the lottery, so I’m thrilled that Perla is now having her turn. I’m really happy for her.
The host then asked if Steven took issue with people criticising the way he played the game.
I was listening to Steven talk, and he made a really good point. He said everyone’s basically trying to succeed, and just because someone’s had success before doesn’t mean they don’t deserve it again. It’s like, people shouldn’t be penalized for already having won – everyone should still have a fair shot!
Honestly, having a comfortable bankroll really let me play loose. I wasn’t stressed about the outcome at all, because I was already in a good spot, so I could just focus on having fun and making plays. It took all the pressure off!
