The Marathon is still alive and will soon be back for some closed technical testing.
Bungie’s latest game has received a lot of negative attention online. Following the rapid cancellation of their previous project, Concord, concerns arose that Sony might also shut down other online games, including *Marathon*. Adding to the trouble, accusations surfaced that the game used artwork without the artist’s permission. As a result, the game’s release has been postponed while the developers work to address these issues.
After more than four months, the studio is ready to showcase *Marathon* again, starting with a limited technical test. Sign-ups for this closed test are now open and the tests will begin on October 22nd at 10 am PT. Players will be able to experience all the improvements made since the initial alpha version.
We’re at a key stage in testing our improvements over the Alpha version. This test includes things like three maps, five character models, proximity chat, adjusted combat speed, solo queueing, and more detailed world-building. However, this Technical Test is still under development and won’t have everything from the full Marathon release – it’s focused on how players experience the beginning of the game.
The developers also provided first minimum PC system requirements:
- Intel Core i5-6600 processor,
- GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card
- 8 GB of RAM.
I’m so excited to be part of the game tests! Just a heads-up, everything is confidential, so we’re not allowed to record or share anything from the tests. If we find any bugs or have feedback, we’ll be sharing it all on the private Discord channel for the game. You can find more details about the tests themselves over on the official Marathon game website.
