It’s surprising to say, but Spider-Man’s recent actions have raised some questions after the latest challenge in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’s set to be a major player in future Marvel films, especially with his upcoming fourth solo movie. This new film, inspired by the Spider-Man: Brand New Day storyline, will mark a fresh start for the character as he truly comes into his own within the franchise.
The first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day reveals Peter Parker will face a variety of enemies in the movie. He’ll battle a mysterious new threat, the ninja group known as the Hand, and the returning villain Scorpion, giving the hero plenty of challenges.
Spider-Man is now under scrutiny for seemingly avoiding conflicts, no matter how many villains appear. A new Marvel series is setting up a major threat to New York City – one that could eventually require the Avengers’ attention – but Spider-Man isn’t appearing in season two of Daredevil: Born Again.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Raises One Question: Where Is Spider-Man?!
Please be aware that the following article reveals some plot details from the first three episodes of Daredevil: Born Again season 2.
Episodes 2 and 3 of Daredevil: Born Again, released on Disney+ in April 2026, continued to build the conflict between Daredevil and Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin. These episodes showed Kingpin gaining even more control, both through legal means in New York City and within the criminal world. He used his Anti-Vigilante Task Force (AVTF) to secretly imprison anyone he targeted and to manipulate the legal system, ensuring they didn’t receive a fair trial.
Characters like Swordsman demonstrated this when he was imprisoned simply for standing up to Wilson Fisk. Fisk then manipulated the system, falsifying records and ruining Swordsman’s reputation to ensure a guilty verdict in a rigged trial. As shown in episodes 2 and 3 of Daredevil: Born Again season 2, this makes it clear that Fisk has no intention of stopping his ruthless tactics.
If Fisk succeeds, we’ll likely see even more vigilantes and heroes emerge, turning New York City into a constant warzone. Considering everything that’s happening, it’s hard to believe Spider-Man isn’t involved. A hero like him wouldn’t just stand by and let the AVTF control the city and enforce Fisk’s twisted plans.
Despite hopes to the contrary, it looks like Spider-Man might not appear in the Daredevil: Born Again series. Even a small reference acknowledging he’s still battling Kingpin’s criminal activity elsewhere would be a welcome addition. Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened, and Kingpin’s operations are now expanding to the point of threatening heroes globally. Frankly, it’s getting to the point where Spider-Man’s absence feels like a bait-and-switch.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Needs To Address What Happened In New York
With everything going on in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, particularly the escalating conflict and Fisk’s crackdown on vigilantes and superheroes with a kind of martial law over New York, it feels necessary for Spider-Man: Brand New Day to acknowledge Spider-Man’s role. There’s just too much happening for him to stay on the sidelines.
Spider-Man is definitely the most well-known superhero in New York within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It wouldn’t be believable if he had no idea what Wilson Fisk (Kingpin) was doing. Even a quick mention of Spider-Man’s conflict with Fisk – maybe in a montage shown in the Brand New Day sequence teased in the trailer – would be a welcome addition.
While Spider-Man and Daredevil don’t need to share storylines, the Marvel Cinematic Universe needs to explain what Spider-Man was doing during the events of the Daredevil show to protect his image. Given that The Punisher was involved in the Brand New Day comic arc, it could be a natural way to do this. Hopefully, Marvel Studios recognizes how important it is to show that Peter Parker was still a hero, even while operating separately.
Spider-Man Is Not The Only New York Superhero On Fraud Watch
It’s hard to criticize Spider-Man too much when you consider he’s not the only New York hero dealing with trouble. The upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series will thankfully give Jessica Jones a significant role in battling Fisk’s schemes. However, it still leaves us wondering where the rest of the Defenders team is.
It appears Luke Cage and Iron Fist won’t be involved in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, similar to Spider-Man. Even The Punisher, though there’s a good explanation for why, won’t be directly assisting Daredevil in the new season.
Beyond Daredevil, other heroes like Kate Bishop and Echo have struggled against Wilson Fisk in New York. With a major city now under the control of a villain, it’s hard to believe the Avengers wouldn’t step in. Hopefully, future Marvel projects, especially after season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, will explain where these heroes have been, and fans are particularly eager to learn what happened to Spider-Man.
