Phasmophobia Sells 1 Million Copies On Consoles

As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I can confidently say that Phasmophobia has quickly become one of the most exhilarating and nerve-wracking experiences I’ve had in recent years. Having dabbled in its PC version last year, I was eagerly anticipating its console release, which, despite some hiccups along the way due to a fire at Kinetic Games’ offices, has finally come to fruition.

The horror game Phasmophobia has managed to sell a million units on gaming consoles, a milestone achieved shortly after its launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on October 29 of this year. Despite releasing around Halloween, the developers consider this achievement as an early holiday gift.

Daniel Knight, CEO and Lead Developer at Kinetic Games, expressed his gratitude to their fantastic, cooperative, and involved community, crediting them for this remarkable accomplishment. He further mentioned that the entire team at Kinetic Games is overjoyed, as hitting this milestone has turned out to be the ideal Christmas gift they could have hoped for.

This year on October 29, the console release of Phasmophobia was not only thrilling around Halloween, but also exceptionally so because it had encountered numerous setbacks during its transition to consoles. Mostly, these hold-ups were attributed to Kinetic Games, the developers, dealing with a fire in their office, which significantly prolonged the game’s launch.

The horror game Phasmophobia, initially gaining attention upon its debut on Steam’s Early Access platform in September 2020, has experienced a remarkable pathway to triumph. In October, the developers at Kinetic Games disclosed that an astounding 20 million copies of Phasmophobia had been sold during its Early Access phase.

At that point, Daniel Knight, the Managing Director and Lead Developer of Phasmophobia, expressed his immense joy as the game reached a remarkable achievement.

Our adventure has been truly extraordinary, and it’s entirely due to our committed band of gamers who never cease to express their love for the game. Eagerly anticipating further growth, we’re excited to broaden the Phasmophobia experience and can’t wait to see what lies ahead.

After wrapping up the Blood Moon event, Phasmophobia continues to roll out fresh content. Developers have hinted at a festive event for Christmas, featuring the mythical figure of Krampus. As we get closer to the event, more details will be unveiled.
