Recent news has definitively ruled out a return for Bobby Nash on 9-1-1, following an update from Peter Krause. Almost a year after his character’s shocking death, Athena and the rest of the 118 are beginning to heal. However, some fans were still hoping for a plot twist where it’s revealed Bobby actually survived the events of the ‘Contagion’ storyline in 2025, but that now seems impossible.
Ever since a major event on the show, dedicated fans of 9-1-1 have been closely examining details that might suggest Bobby Nash is still alive. Although the show’s creator, Tim Minear, explained the surprising way the character was written off was intended to feel realistic, there have been no significant hints of a return since the middle of season nine. Now, the actor who played Bobby, Peter Krause, has confirmed his character is definitely gone from the show.
Peter Krause Officially Sets His 9-1-1 Replacement Show (Emphasizing Bobby’s Death)
As the show 9-1-1 continues to address the aftermath of Bobby’s death, Peter Krause is taking on a new role. He’s been cast in Protection, a new NBC pilot, where he will play Mike Thornhill, a former Secret Service agent now working as Assistant Director of Intelligence. The pilot, executive produced by Josh Safan and Jenna Bush Hager, combines a military conspiracy thriller with a family drama storyline.
I’m really excited about this new show, Protection, that NBC is working on! It’s part of their push to make more scripted series, and they’re still developing it, but it sounds promising. So far, only Krause is confirmed to star, but given how much experience he has on TV, I get the feeling he’ll be the main face of the show. If it gets picked up, it’ll be great to see him back on NBC – he’s been doing some work over on ABC since 2016, so it’s nice he’s potentially coming home!
Krause’s New NBC Show Makes It Impossible For Bobby To Return On 9-1-1
If the show Protection is approved, it will likely prevent Bobby from returning to 9-1-1. Because Protection will be produced for network television, its production schedule will be similar to other shows of that type. This makes it impossible for Krause to work on both 9-1-1 and Protection.
Ever since Bobby’s controversial death, fans have been speculating that he’s still alive and in hiding. They’ve been carefully analyzing details from the show 9-1-1 hoping to find evidence to support this theory. The show is known for its surprising and dramatic storylines, so a late-stage return for Bobby isn’t out of the question, especially considering the strong negative reaction to his death.
ABC has consistently shown on the show 9-1-1 that Bobby is deceased, even jokingly acknowledging fan theories about how he could return. If that wasn’t enough to convince viewers he won’t be a regular cast member anymore, Peter Krause’s recent career choice should make it clear.
