Pete Davidson Wants Ariana Grande to Win the Oscar for ‘Wicked’: ‘I Hope She Takes the Gold’

Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande have squashed any bad blood — for good.

Prior to “SNL50: The Anniversary Celebration,” Davidson told Page Six that he and Grande don’t get together much because they don’t move in the same social circles. However, when they do cross paths, their interactions are cordial. He said, “When we do run into each other, which is rare due to our different social groups, it’s all good vibes.” Davidson added that he’s been involved in some mature relationships with exceptional women, and when those relationships have ended, they’ve parted ways amicably.

Davidson expressed his wish that his former fiancee, who was nominated for an Academy Award for her role as Glinda the Good in “Wicked,” will have a successful awards night: “I hope she’ll win the Oscar, I hope she’ll bring home the gold.

In May of 2018, Grande and Davidson started dating. They got engaged in June, but ended their engagement four months later in October. The singer known for her hit “We can’t be friends” isn’t the only one from the “Wicked” crew to receive an Oscar nomination; John M Chu’s musical production earned a total of 10 nominations, including best actress (Cynthia Erivo), best picture, best costume design, and best makeup and hairstyling.

In the category of Best Supporting Actress, Grande’s competitors are Felicity Jones in “The Brutalist”, Monica Barbaro in “A Complete Unknown”, Isabella Rossellini in “Conclave”, and Zoe Saldana for the controversial production titled “Emilia Pérez.

The 97th Academy Awards will air live from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on March 2nd (Sunday). The event starts at 4 PM Pacific Time (PT) or 7 PM Eastern Time (ET), which is an hour earlier than the usual 5 PM PT start time.
