PETA demands Sean Evans switch to vegan wings on Hot Ones

The animal welfare group PETA has written a public appeal to Sean Evans, the host of Hot Ones, urging him to use plant-based alternatives instead of actual chicken wings in his show.

One popular online talk show is Hot Ones, which was established and is hosted by Sean Evans. Notable guests on the show include musicians such as SZA, actresses like Margot Robbie, television hosts such as Conan O’Brien, and numerous others.

The television program challenges its guests by serving them a progressively hotter selection of chicken wings smothered in various spicy sauces, while they field questions from Evans, renowned for his incisive insights and thorough investigations.

The popularity of The Hot Ones brand is so widespread that it’s recognized in many homes, and the show offers hot sauce sets for viewers to replicate the spicy challenges featured on the program. However, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has expressed a concern about modifying one of the show’s key elements.

PETA offers to name chickens after Sean Evans if Hot Ones goes vegan

On September 11, 2025, Nicole Cummins, the senior celebrity liaison for PETA, penned a letter to Sean Evans suggesting he switch to using vegan wings rather than real chicken. This letter was subsequently shared with TopMob.

Although you’ve faced some of the most renowned individuals while their eyes welled up and voices trembled due to the intensity, nothing on Hot Ones compares to what chickens go through before they end up as food. So here’s an idea for you – consider making vegan wings your standard choice.”

In this version, I attempted to rephrase the original text while maintaining its essence and tone, but with a focus on clarity and accessibility for a wider audience.

Rest assured, neither your guests nor audience members will discern any difference. However, the ones who might notice are the chickens, given that it’s the participants enduring your spicy concoctions who should experience discomfort, not the fowl.

Upon providing a detailed portrayal of contemporary chicken farms, PETA consented to naming two chickens after Hot One’s host. These were named Sean and Evan, with the assurance that pictures of their contented lives, away from the meat industry, would be sent.

So far, Evans hasn’t publicly responded yet, and he’s not an exception when faced with a demand from PETA. Interestingly enough, this animal rights group often targets prominent figures and well-known companies with puzzling campaigns.

In April 2025, PETA criticized YouTube sensation MrBeast regarding his involvement in the ‘100 men vs 1 gorilla’ meme, advising him to exclude animals from his content, following a joke about creating a video that tests the popular dilemma.

100 men vs. a gorilla? Maybe try 100 reasons to leave animals out of your content instead…

In August of that year, PETA targeted Nintendo, expressing concerns over a cow’s nose ring in Mario Kart World. They urged the gaming company to allow the character to compete without any adornments for a “nose-ring-free race.
