Sega and Atlus have released update 3.2 for Persona 5: The Phantom X on both Japanese and English servers. This update adds a new version of the character Riko “Wind” Tanemura, called Tempest, and concludes Chapter 3 of the main story. Players will now be able to challenge the third major villain in a difficult boss battle after sending them a Calling Card.
The main characters from the story, known as the Phantom Thieves, have previously been released as 4-star characters and were unlocked through gameplay and a standard gacha system. Riko is the first to be available as a 5-star character through a special, limited-time banner. Atlus has clarified that this isn’t the same as the character development seen in the main Persona games, and they’ve officially called it “Unbound Desire.”
This update is the first time the Japanese and English versions of the game have received updates in a different order than those released in other parts of East Asia (aside from a previous update that added Justine and Caroline worldwide). That update included a new Persona 5 Royal crossover episode featuring Kasumi “Violet” Yoshizawa. While Violet will eventually be available on all servers, players eager to experience her story will need to be patient.
