Pennywise set to return in new It film but it’s not what you’re thinking

Fans of Pennywise will see the terrifying clown return to theaters, but not in a traditional sequel. Director Andy Muschietti has shared details about a different kind of film featuring the character.

I was so thrilled with how well ‘Welcome to Derry’ did, and it sounds like Andy Muschietti, the creator, isn’t finished with the Stephen King story yet! Apparently, he’s got more planned, which is amazing news for fans like me.

We’re already planning a second season that will show Pennywise’s story even further back in time, and there are more exciting movies planned as well.

There won’t be a third ‘It’ movie, as the second film already concluded the story from Stephen King’s novel. However, director Andy Muschietti is creating a ‘supercut’ – a single, extended version combining both movies into one long film.

It director reveals supercut plans with new scenes

Just like Quentin Tarantino recently combined his Kill Bill movies with new animation into one long cut called The Whole Bloody Affair, Andy Muschietti has been working on a similar extended version of It.

During a recent Spanish interview, which was shared online and reported by The Direct, director Andy Muschietti revealed that a longer, compiled version of the film is planned for release.

So, a month back, I was thinking about this whole project, and apparently Stephen King was curious about how the supercut was coming along. Barbara Muschietti, the producer, mentioned he actually asked about it, which is pretty wild!

The director said it was a dream come true to combine the two films into one story. But it won’t just be a simple joining of the two movies – it sounds like they’re planning something a bit more unique.

The final version will likely be organized differently and include additional scenes that I still need to film. These scenes will help connect the main parts of the story and create a smoother flow.

The Muschetti brothers have confirmed an extended version of IT is coming, combining IT Chapter One and IT Chapter Two into a single film. This version will include extra footage and newly filmed scenes, and it has the approval of Stephen King himself.

Barbara said they’re having trouble finding time to film additional scenes, but Andy stated that the studio is willing to pay for them.

It’s currently unclear what the additional scenes will be or when the finished movie will be released. However, once it is, it’s likely to be a long film – over five hours long, even without these new scenes.
