I’m so thrilled for McKenna Grace and all the other fans like me who love Peeta! It’s amazing news that Josh Hutcherson and Jennifer Lawrence are coming back to the Hunger Games universe next year. Apparently, they’re going to be reprising their roles as Peeta and Katniss in a prequel called Sunrise on the Reaping, which is set to come out November 20, 2026, according to The Hollywood Reporter. I’m really hoping we’ll get to see a glimpse of them as a married couple with kids – maybe a flash-forward? It’s been way too long since we’ve seen Katniss and Peeta together on screen, all the way back in Mockingjay – Part 2 in 2015! I can’t wait!
Josh Hutcherson admitted he initially wanted nothing to do with the Hunger Games franchise after filming Mockingjay – Part 2. He said he felt overwhelmed by the sudden fame and loss of privacy it brought. However, he’s since come to appreciate the experience and is eager to return for another film. In November, he expressed how much he’d enjoy working with Francis Lawrence, Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, and Woody Harrelson again, saying he’d be on set immediately if given the chance. Fans likely feel the same way.
