Pedro Pascal has joined an exclusive group of actors – he’s now one of only ten to have appeared in projects from Marvel, DC, and Star Wars, covering all three major pop culture universes. Despite the success of original films like Oppenheimer, Barbie, and Sinners, Hollywood still heavily relies on its established franchises. Even with occasional setbacks, Marvel, DC, and Star Wars consistently capture audience attention in theaters and through streaming. Actors continue to pursue roles within these franchises because of their widespread popularity, enjoyable work environments, and reliable salaries.
Pedro Pascal is quickly becoming one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, coinciding with the massive success of popular franchises. While he first gained recognition for his role in Game of Thrones, he’s recently appeared in a string of hits, including Gladiator 2, The Last of Us, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, The Mandalorian, Wonder Woman 1984, Eddington, Materialists, and many other projects.
Okay, so Pedro Pascal has officially entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe, playing Reed Richards – Mr. Fantastic – in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. And honestly, this is a big deal. He’s now one of only ten actors who’ve managed to appear in projects from all three major franchises – Marvel, DC, and Star Wars. The guy’s a pop culture powerhouse, and an Emmy nomination just proves it. It’s a pretty exclusive club he’s joined!
Pascal has become a major star at Disney, not only for his role in The Marvels but also as Din Djarin in The Mandalorian and the upcoming film The Mandalorian & Grogu. This makes him the current face of both the Marvel and Star Wars franchises. While he provides the voice and visible face of Din Djarin, stunt performers Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder typically perform the physical action while he’s in the suit.
Pedro Pascal briefly appeared in a DC film right before his breakout role in The Mandalorian made him one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. He played Maxwell Lord in Wonder Woman 1984 back in 2020, but the movie didn’t get much attention due to the pandemic and wasn’t well-received by audiences.

Pedro Pascal has achieved something rare for an actor: starring in major projects from Marvel, Star Wars, and DC. He’s played the hero in both The Mandalorian and a forthcoming Fantastic Four movie, and even appeared as a villain in Wonder Woman 1984. This makes his completion of the ‘pop culture trifecta’ particularly impressive.
Only a handful of actors – just nine others, in fact – have appeared in movies from both Marvel, DC, and Star Wars. Usually, their roles in at least one of those franchises were small or just quick cameos.
Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman is famous for her roles as Jane Foster in the Marvel universe’s Thor films and Padme Amidala in the Star Wars prequels. Some may not know she also appeared in the DC film V for Vendetta as Evey Hammond, a character based on a comic originally published under DC’s Vertigo label.
Andy Serkis

Andy Serkis is preparing to return as Alfred Pennyworth in the upcoming The Batman 2, with filming scheduled for next year. He’s also known for playing Ulysses Klaue, the villain in Marvel’s Black Panther, and has appeared in two Star Wars projects: as Supreme Leader Snoke in the sequel trilogy and as Kino Loy in the series Andor.
Ben Mendelsohn

Ben Mendelsohn is known for his roles in both the Star Wars and superhero universes. He played Director Orson Krennic in Rogue One and reprised the role in Season 2 of Andor. He’s also appeared in superhero films, notably as Talos in Captain Marvel and John Daggett in The Dark Knight Rises.
Taika Waititi

Taika Waititi is known for his voice work as IG-11 in The Mandalorian and Korg in Thor: Ragnarok, and he’s also directed films for both Marvel and Star Wars. He first appeared in a DC movie with a small role as Thomas Kalmaku, a friend of Hal Jordan, in the poorly received Green Lantern. He later gained more praise for his performance as the original Ratcatcher in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.
Clancy Brown

Clancy Brown is a prolific voice actor known for bringing powerful villains to life in major franchises. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he voiced both the formidable Surtur in Thor: Ragnarok and the cunning Blacksmith in Daredevil and The Punisher. He’s also made a mark in the Star Wars universe, notably as Savage Opress in The Clone Wars. And over at DC, he’s widely recognized as the voice of Lex Luthor in the DC Animated Universe, including Superman: The Animated Series.
Dee Bradley Baker

Dee Bradley Baker is a highly acclaimed voice actor, best known for voicing all the clone characters in the animated series The Clone Wars, Rebels, and The Bad Batch. He’s also done extensive voice work for DC, and will soon return as the voice of Eagley, a character who will face a new enemy in Season 2 of Peacemaker. Baker’s work isn’t limited to superheroes and animation; he even played Morris, the faceless creature, in the Marvel film Shang-Chi.
David Harbour

I’ve been a huge fan of David Harbour ever since Stranger Things made him a household name! It’s been amazing to see his career take off, landing him roles like Red Guardian in the Marvel universe – Black Widow and even Thunderbolts! And did you know he’s become a big part of both Marvel and DC? He voiced Frankenstein in DC’s Creature Commandos and a Jedi Master, Tajin Crosser, in that incredible Star Wars: Visions episode, ‘The Elder.’ He’s seriously everywhere, and he’s fantastic in everything he does!
Tom Hardy

Tom Hardy, a popular British actor known for roles like Bane in The Dark Knight Rises and Eddie Brock/Venom in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, also appeared in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. However, his Star Wars role was brief – a masked cameo as Stormtrooper 926, which is why his inclusion on this list is a bit different than others.
Alan Tudyk

Alan Tudyk is known for his diverse roles across popular franchises. He played a relative of Batman, Van Wayne, in the short-lived DC comedy Powerless, and recently made history as the first actor to portray four different characters within James Gunn’s DC Universe. While he had a significant role as the droid K-2SO in Star Wars, his work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been brief – he made an uncredited appearance as a redneck in Deadpool 2.
