According to our sources, Kelly Campbell is resigning from her position as President of Peacock and Direct-to-Consumer at NBCUniversal.

In 2021, Campbell assumed the position of head of the streaming service, following his tenure as president at Hulu beforehand.

Reps for NBCUniversal declined to comment.

In 2017, Campbell started working for Hulu as the Chief Marketing Officer. Later, upon the departure of previous Hulu CEO Randy Freer, she assumed the role of president. Before joining Hulu, she had spent a dozen years in different leadership positions at Google, spanning across Google Ads and Google Cloud sectors. Her professional journey kicked off in investment banking, where she worked for JPMorgan Chase.

As a movie enthusiast, I’m excited to share some intriguing news about a significant shift in the television landscape. In November, Comcast unveiled plans to spin off a major chunk of NBCUniversal’s cable networks, which have been impacted by the cord-cutting trend, into a new company dubbed “SpinCo.” Interestingly, streaming service Peacock and the popular reality channel Bravo will remain within NBCU.

The new entity is expected to be operational independently from NBCU after about a year. This standalone company will house basic cable networks such as MSNBC, CNBC, USA Network, Oxygen, E!, Syfy, and Golf Channel. Additionally, it will include digital properties like Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, and SportsEngine. The CEO of this new venture will be NBCU executive Mark Lazarus.

This move signifies an interesting development in the media industry, as we witness the separation of these cable networks from NBCUniversal to create a unique entity that will undoubtedly shape our viewing experiences in the future.

Previously declared changes in leadership roles at NBCUniversal: Matt Strauss assumes the position of Chairman for NBCUniversal Media Group, taking charge of Peacock streaming service, NBC Sports, ad sales, distribution, research, and affiliate relations. On the other hand, Donna Langley steps into the role as Chairman of NBCUniversal Entertainment & Studios. In this capacity, she will have the power to approve content production and marketing across the company, encompassing assets like NBC and Bravo, in addition to Peacock. Furthermore, she will maintain oversight of the global creative strategy, business operations, production, acquisitions, marketing, and distribution for the studio’s film and TV operations.

Puck was first to report Campbell’s exit.
