Peacemaker Star Confirms DCU Future, Wants to Team Up With Batman

A star from the show *Peacemaker* recently shared that he’s expected to continue his role in the new DC Universe (DCU), and expressed his excitement about potentially working with the new version of Batman. *Peacemaker* just finished its second season on HBO Max, marking the first series set within James Gunn’s revamped DCU. The show is considered important for the future of the franchise, as it introduced key elements like the prison planet Salvation and the superhero team Checkmate, and may have hinted at the arrival of other heroes in this new universe.

Steve Agee, who plays John Economos, will definitely be back for future projects after *Peacemaker* Season 2. He shared this news with FandomWire shortly after the season finale aired.

The actor hinted that we’ll be seeing the character Economos again soon. While it’s unclear exactly where he’ll appear next, the second season of *Peacemaker* intentionally laid the groundwork for the upcoming *Superman* movie, *Man of Tomorrow*, which is scheduled for 2027.

After briefly playing his clumsy ARGUS agent, Agee expressed his hope for a future team-up within the DC Universe. He specifically mentioned wanting his character to share a scene with Batman, stating, “I would love for Economos to somehow interact with Batman.”

As a huge DC fan, I’m so excited to hear that James Gunn and the team at DC Studios are definitely planning a new Batman for the DCU! They haven’t announced who will play him yet, but it *is* happening, and we’ll even get a dedicated Batman movie called *The Brave and the Bold*. It’s great to know Batman will be a big part of the connected universe!

While the comic books don’t feature any significant stories with Economos and Batman together, they have met. In the television series, Economos, played by Agee, becomes the warden of Belle Reve prison, operating under the direction of government agent Amanda Waller.

As a longtime Batman watcher, I’ve always known he’s had dealings with Belle Reve prison. So, it’s a total no-brainer that he and Harley Quinn have probably met before – it just makes sense given his history with that place!

You can now see Agee’s John Economos in Season 2 of *Peacemaker*, which is available to stream on HBO Max. The show, starring John Cena as Christopher Smith/Peacemaker, is a superhero series with mature content. In the new season, Peacemaker finds himself in a strange situation – stranded on the distant prison planet Salvation with no clear way to return home after believing he’s found a reality where everything he wants is possible.

How Will John Economos Get His Batman Team-Up Dream?

Although John Economos isn’t a well-established character in Batman’s comic book history, a team-up between them is still possible within the DC Universe.

Ever since the start of *Peacemaker* Season 2, James Gunn, who created the show and is now leading the DC Universe, has stated that the series will be a key building block for the future of the DCU. One character confirmed to be included in this shared universe is Bruce Wayne, also known as Batman.

Since Economos is still employed by the superhero organization Checkmate, Batman likely already knows about him and is keeping an eye on his activities.

The cast of *Peacemaker* will probably spend their next appearances trying to find out what happened to their friend Chris—who, it turns out, is stranded on Salvation.

The comic book story *Salvation Run* famously features a group of DC villains imprisoned on another planet, including the Joker, one of Batman’s most notorious enemies. While James Gunn has stated he isn’t directly adapting that story, it wouldn’t be surprising if a villain from the Batman universe ended up trapped in this extra-dimensional prison.

Perhaps this search for Chris will bring Economos and Batman together, as it could unleash a wave of dangerous new problems for the DC Universe through his work with the Checkmate team.
