Season 2 of Peacemaker recently unveiled a major plot twist: the alternate dimension featured in the show is a reality where the Nazis were victorious in World War II. Interestingly, a subtle detail has gone unnoticed by many viewers – and even by James Gunn himself. It’s a surprisingly overlooked element of the storyline.
When Peacemaker initially found himself in the alternate dimension, things appeared wonderful. His father was alive and seemed kind, his brother hadn’t died, Harcourt showed him affection, and he was a celebrated hero. Plus, he hadn’t killed Rick Flag Jr.
In Episode 6, while Adebayo was being pursued by Keith and all the white residents of the neighborhood, Chris uncovered a shocking reality: they had somehow ended up on Earth X, an alternate version of their world where the majority of people (with the possible exception of the Sons of Liberty) are Nazis.
Episode 7 will explore what happens next (and will also include another appearance by Superman). In the meantime, viewers have been closely examining the major revelation, and they’ve discovered a chilling Easter egg.
Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 6 hid a scary detail James Gunn missed
In the final moments of Episode 6, while Adebayo is running, pay attention to the mailboxes. Many viewers have noted they resemble white crosses, leading to speculation that this was a deliberate reference to the Ku Klux Klan.
One user asked Gunn on Threads if the way the boxes were arranged looked unintentionally similar to Ku Klux Klan white crosses, admitting they initially thought that’s what they were. “Was the framing of the boxes almost looking like Klan white crosses intentional?” they asked.
Upon seeing the screenshot, he responded: “Oh wow. Absolutely not. I’d love to say I spotted that, but I hadn’t noticed it until just now.”
I love this particular shot from Peacemaker, and I just realized something interesting: the mailboxes resemble little white crosses. Isn’t that neat? How cool is that?

Episode 6 was directed by Gunn, but the striking visuals could just as easily be the result of the show’s production design team. Regardless, it’s yet another unsettling element of the reveal, adding to the impact of details like the swastika on the American flag and Keith’s chilling cry, “One got out… a Black!”
One viewer shared that this is their favorite scene from Peacemaker, and they recently realized something interesting: the mailboxes resemble small, white crosses. They thought that was really cool!
One person commented that the mailboxes resembled crosses, urgently pleading, “Somebody save her immediately.” They added, “I need next week’s episode NOW.”
Episode 7 promises to explore the consequences of Chris and his team being on Earth X. While you might have some theories about what will happen (like whether David Corenswet will show up as Overman, it’s anyone’s guess!), be prepared for surprises.
As a fan, I’m already bracing myself because James Gunn just hinted that everything we *think* we know about the characters could be wrong! He wrote that if we think we’ve got them all figured out, next week’s episode might prove us totally mistaken. Seriously, he’s saying things aren’t as simple as they seem, and I’m so ready for some surprises!
